How to convert a bank statement PDF to CSV

    1. Download the statement as a PDF from your online banking. A downloaded PDF works better than a photo or a scan.
    2. Select the PDF here. You can add several months at once.
    3. Choose CSV or Excel, and the semicolon separator if your Excel is in French.
    4. Download the file and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or your accounting software.

Bank statements are made for reading, not for calculating. Their tables usually have no grid lines, amounts are aligned to the right and long descriptions wrap onto a second line, which is why copy and paste turns them into a mess.

This converter rebuilds the columns from the layout of the page, joins wrapped descriptions back to their transaction and merges all pages into one table, keeping the column headers only once. In the Excel version, amounts written as 1,250.00, 1 250,00 or (85.00) become real numbers, so you can add, filter and build pivot tables right away.

Why use our Bank statement to CSV tool

    Clean columns

Date, description, debit, credit and balance each get their own column, even without grid lines in the PDF.

    All pages in one table

Months of transactions in a single sheet, with repeated headers removed.

    Private

Statements are deleted after 1 hour(s) and nobody reads them. You can also delete them right after downloading.

    About the file formats

    PDF (Portable Document Format)

Created by Adobe in 1993, PDF is the standard for sharing documents that must look identical on every screen and printer. It embeds fonts, images and layout in one file and supports passwords, forms and digital signatures.

    CSV (Comma-Separated Values)

CSV is a plain text format for tables: one line per row and a comma between values. It is the universal way to move data between spreadsheets, databases, CRMs and online shops.

    Frequently asked questions

    Which banks are supported?

Any bank whose statement is a real PDF with selectable text, which is the case for statements downloaded from online banking. The converter does not depend on a specific bank layout.

Is it safe to upload my bank statement?

Files travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, are processed automatically and are deleted after 1 hour(s), or immediately when you click Delete. No copies are kept and nobody looks at them.

My statement is a scan or a photo. Will it work?

Scans contain no text. Use OCR PDF first to recognise the text, then convert the OCR result here. Clear, straight scans give the best results.

Can I import the CSV into accounting software?

Yes. The CSV is UTF-8 encoded with one transaction per row, the format most budgeting and accounting tools accept. Check the column order on their import screen.

Does it work with scanned PDF files?

Scanned pages are images, so their text cannot be edited directly. Run the file through our OCR PDF tool first to make the text recognizable, then convert it.

    Is MajorPDF free to use?

Yes, completely free. There is no registration and no watermark is added to your files.

    Are my files safe?

Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection and deleted automatically after 1 hour(s). After downloading you can also delete them immediately with one click.

What is the maximum file size?

Each file can be up to 50 MB.
