How to compress an image to 10KB

    1. Select your photo (JPG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP…) or drop it on the page.
    2. Check the target: 10KB is already set. Change it if your form asks for another limit.
    3. Click "Compress to 10KB". The quality is lowered only as much as needed, then the dimensions if the limit is very small.
    4. Download your image and upload it. The final size is shown on screen.

10 KB is the usual limit for a scanned signature in exam, recruitment and university application forms, which often ask for 10 to 20 KB. A signature is dark ink on white paper, so it can be very small and still sharp.

Tip: crop the image tightly around the signature before compressing it. Less empty paper leaves more detail for the ink itself.

    Frequently asked questions

What size should a signature image be?

Most forms ask for a JPG between 10 and 20 KB, often around 140 × 60 pixels. Crop the signature closely, then compress it here.

How do I reduce an image to 10KB?

Select the image, keep the target at 10KB and click "Compress to 10KB". The image you download is 10KB or smaller.

Will my photo get smaller in pixels?

Only if needed. The JPEG quality is lowered first, which keeps the width and height. If the photo is still too heavy at a reasonable quality, its dimensions are reduced step by step until it fits.

    Can I compress a PNG to 10KB?

Yes. PNG images get an optimised colour palette and, if needed, smaller dimensions. They stay in PNG format and keep their transparency.

Does 1 KB mean 1000 or 1024 bytes here?

We count 1 KB as 1000 bytes, so your image is accepted by forms that use either definition.

    Is MajorPDF free to use?

Yes, completely free. There is no registration and no watermark is added to your files.

    Are my files safe?

Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection and deleted automatically after 1 hour(s). After downloading you can also delete them immediately with one click.

What is the maximum file size?

Each file can be up to 50 MB.
